Autumn at Westonbirt

As expected, Westonbirt Arboretum was brimming with colour when we visited last week.  Autumn has well and truly arrived!

We wondered if there would be any casualties to the hurricane (I say hurricane, it was more rain than wind here, but obviously there were plenty of other areas not so fortunate), but this fell a while ago - excellent climbing practice opportunity though!

Smiler's coat is red, but he was very clear that he believed it to be identical to the leaves - who am I to argue - for all I know they do look the same to his wonky brain!

A beautifully arranged little gathering of toadstools / mushrooms / houses for elves.  So much depends on perspective . . .

It was beautiful.  Every single Autumn I'm certain the colours of the leaves have never been so vivid, the air so crisp, the mud so temptingly squidgy!

I love wandering around, seeing lots of other families doing the same - enjoying the changing colours, jumping in the odd puddle, celebrating when they find a conker, carefully tucking handfuls of the brightest leaves they can find into their pockets, waving sticks around and shouting to one another as they hide behind tree trunks.

I hope all of you have the chance for some old fashioned good clean fun this Autumn - though maybe clean isn't necessarily the most accurate word to use!

  1. What stunning autumnal photos, it's not surprising it's so popular for families to visit. Great to see the children having such fun climbing on the trees and exploring such a beautiful place. Thanks for linking up and sharing your outdoor fun with Country Kids.

    1. Thank you for popping by Fiona - it is lovely there, I just wish we had the chance to visit more often!
